Get to know Susan Jackson

/files/Misc/SJackson_e.jpgName: Susan Jackson

What I do for a living: I am a registered nurse and I work casual in Vegreville at the Hemodialysis Unit as well as I am the director of Parkview’s Downtown Campus.

Born: I was born in Vermilion and spent my growing up years on a dairy farm near Mannville.
All my schooling was at the Mannville School.

Family: My husband and I have 6 children, 2 daughter-in-laws, 1 son-in-law, and 4 grandchildren. 5 of my children are born in 1985. Figure that out if you can!!!

How I met my spouse: Howard and I went to school together, a year apart. We met when I was 5 and he was 6 but actually didn’t start dating until we were both graduated.

Education: I went to nursing school in Edmonton.

How I became a Christian: I became a Christian when I was 12. I had received a Gideon Bible when I was in grade 4 and through it I came to know Christ.

Spiritual Gifts: Helps, hospitality, mercy and administration.

Why I began attending PAC: Parkview had a vital youth group when our kids were either in their teens or almost there. Parkview was a good fit for all of us.

Ministries I’m involved in at PAC: Just starting the ministries of Parkview's Downtown Campus and The Edge.

How I spend my spare time: I love to read, scrapbook, and quilt. I also love the outdoors whether that means yard work or farm work. Love camping too.

The personal project I’m working on: I am dehoarding my house!!!What a job!!! I have been reading some books by Peter Walsh about decluttering, and simplifying. It is very freeing to get rid of some of my “stuff.”

My first job: During my high school years I worked at Mannville Drugstore on weekends.

Most prized possession: I have to say my 4 grandchildren. They are great.

Best childhood memory: I had a great childhood growing up on a farm. I loved playing in the barn loft, finding kittens, going for long walks, and playing barbies.

Few people know that I… have about 80 nativity sets from all over the world.

Best way to make me laugh: I laugh very easily and almost anything could potentially make me laugh. But what I can’t stand is jokes. I know that seems odd but what I mean is I that I don’t like pages and pages of email jokes. Can’t handle them at all.

Most annoying habit: The kids say that the most annoying thing I do is start sneezing and not being able to quit until I have had at least a bazillion sneezes.

Best gift I’ve ever received: Howard gave me a beautiful ring for our 30th wedding anniversary.

One thing I can’t stand: Jokes (see laughing question).

I would love to live: I love where I live so much that I wouldn’t choose anywhere else. I do love to travel though.

If I could live my life over, I’d… just do it all again. It’s been so great. Not even kidding.

I’d describe my faith as: I feel that my faith is always growing and progressing. The Lord has an amazing way of making me think and learn through all kinds of circumstances.

I’d appreciate prayer for: The ministry of Parkview's Downtown Campus.
